As per a government laws, every person needs to link their mobile number with their Aadhaar before 6 February, 2018.
For the ease, the government has announced some new way to link mobile numbers wih Aadhaar. Now the mobile users don't need to visit telecom service provider to link mobile number with their 12-digit Aadhaar.
Moreover, UIDAI said in a tweet that, mobile subscribers can also choose to verify their mobile numbers with Aadhaar without providing their biometrics to Telecom Service Providers.
There are two ways for linking of mobile number with Aadhaar:
1. The subscriber can do the verification process online on telecom service provider's website.
2. Verification can also be done using telecom's voice-based IVR helpline.
Here are the steps to link your mobile numbers with Aadhaar (via telecom service provider's website):
1. Visit your telecom service provider's website (says Vodafone, Idea, Airtel) and enter the mobile number (which you want to link with your Aadhaar).
2. Then, telecom service provider will send an OTP on the same number (provided in Step 1). You need to enter the same OTP you received on the telecom service provider's website.
3. A 'consent message' will then appear on the website. The subscriber then needs to enter his/her Aadhaar number after properly checking the 'consent box'.
4. Then the telecom service provider will send an OTP request to UIDAI.
5. If there is any other mobile number registered with this same Aadhaar, then the OTP will be sent to that number.\
6. The user will also receive a 'consent message' about his e-KYC details direct from UIDAI. After that the user needs to enter the OTP received.
7. Once the process is completed, the user will get an confirmation message saying the number has been re-verified with the Aadhaar.
Here are the steps to link your mobile numbers with Aadhaar (via IVR helpline):
Firstly you need to call on your telecom service provider's IVR helpline number with the same mobile number which you want to verify.
1. Then the telecom service provider's IVR will play the 'consent message' and ask the subscriber to provide his/her mobile number.
2. Then the OTP request be sent to the UIDAI for the verification of Aadhaar number linked to that account.
3. OTP number will be received on the mobile number linked with this same Aadhaar card. A 'consent message' will again be played on IVR.
4. The mobile subscriber will have to provide the OTP received on IVR. If correct, the subscriber's e-KYC details will be fetched from UIDAI.
5. If the e-KYC details fetched are correct, successful 'mobile re-verification' message will appear on IVR. An SMS notification too will be received on the subscriber’s mobile number.
